Question:

Home party sales consultants please answer?

I've done home party sales before (Princess House Crystal and Park Lane Jewelry). I wasn't very successful mainly because I couldn't afford to "quit my day job" to work at it full time. It seemed to me that the people who were successful were bored housewives who didn't really need the money, and didn't have to support themselves or their families on the income.

In a few years I hope to be in that enviable position. My husband will have his masters degree and should be able to pull down $100K+ on his own (we make about that now w/2 incomes). We'll be moving back up north & I my husband keeps asking me what I'll do. I used to waitress, but I'll be 50 by the time we move & there will be few if any positions available for what I do now up there.

I've investigated a few party plan companies, but want to know what you like/dislike about the one you're with.

Also, should I try to get going now before we move or wait to start my business when we get settled?

  1. I love my company because I really do believe in the products. I am an independent consultant for a wickless candle company. I have two small kids and my house burned down when  was 6yo so traditional candles just aren't an option for me. We have 40 different warmer designs to choose from and over 80 scents and our wax is warmed using a 25 watt light bulb.Because there is no flame invloved they are safe to use just about anywhere!

I love that we can sell our products online through our website, at home parties, basket parties, fairs and expos, etc. Our shipping is also a huge plus. Party orders are usually shipped for free if they meet the minimum which is very easy to do and all other orders are shipped at only 10% of the product subtotal($30 order=3.00 shipping) Not too shabby!!

Let me know if you'd like more info on our scentsational products. I can send you a catalog and a free sample if you'd like, just send me an email!!

    Good Luck with your search!!!

  2. Hi I understand where you are coming from! I am a consultant with a Bath & Body company. I LOVE WHAT I DO! This company has a retail chain of stores and I was an in-store customer for years then I found the "at home" divison and it is perfect for me. You really have to find a product you like or honestly it won't work out : (

I really liked the fact that the kit cost was only $150 and you get everything you need. I looked into Dove Chocolate at Home and thier kit cost $399!!! I wish you lots of luck in your search and if you would like more info on what I do shoot me an email  CamieJelinek@yahoo.com

and I can email you back the info. Have a good night!

  3. Elsie,

Saw your question and couldn't help but try and answer.  I am just starting a home party sales group myself.  Have to say in this business you get out of what of what you want to put in.  I am personally doing this full-time, as just recently lost my "job".  I am with Passion Parties, and the help and support that I get from other women helping other women is EXTREMLY helpful.  The constant contact of my sponsor answering any and all questions that I may have along the way and the hints and tips she has in helping me promote this new business is amazing.  Consultants in this biz really know what they are doing and are able to sponsor other consultants all over the US and Canada.  If you would like to know more feel free to e-mail me or check out my site http://www.batteriesnotincluded.yourpass...

Passion Parties is not just "s*x toys".  Many consultants with Passion Parties have been very successful just selling the Amazing bath spa, and lotions line.  Lots of other sensual products.  And if you're worried about the toy thing you decide what you want to demo.  And the books are separated.  Can choose to promote the "toys" or not, up to you.  Plus you get to keep 40% of the retail sales as pure profit with minimal start-up cost.

  4. I have a friend who loves Passion Parties - she makes tons of money too as a part time employee.

BUT you have to not be shy at all cause it's s*x toys.

  5. Let me see if I can help out a little here.  Most home based businesses you don't have to wait until you move.  Start where your at now.  Most home based businesses are easily moveable where ever you move to.  why wait to build a clientel.  Not all home based businesses has products that you have to carry around.  There are a few companies that hold the product for you and when an order is placed, they drop ship it for you.  That is one thing I don't like about party plans where you have to have either massive inventory to lay around the house for the kids to get into and possibly destroy leaving me responsible to replace the product.  That wasn't my cup of tea.  The other thing that I don't like is that you have to wait until someone is finished with the product before they will replace it.  Unless you have a huge clientel bases, which takes years to build, then there will be a break in payment cycles.  there are a lot of industries that have products and services that are in higher demand.  Ones that your not limited to a specific targeted market.  Personally I like the telecommunications industry where your target market is pretty much everyone who uses or wants some sort of telecommunication service rather it's a land line, cell phone, Internet, digital, video phone, VOIP or Satellite tv.  You make a percentage off everyone's billings every single month and don't have to wait for them to re-order.  I can't give you my web site, but here's a web site to look at to see what I'm talking about. She's had her own business in this industry for about seven years now. http://www.tiffanyvague.acnrep.com

There's a lot of other industries that you can take a look at.  Here's a yahoo blog that has over half a dozen different industries to look into as well.
