  1. First you need to notify your parent or guardian that you have a health problem. You can't treat a urinary infection with common household stuff. If nothing else, call a neighbor, friend or school teacher for help.

There are alternative remedies, however. I've had great success using a combination of cranberry extract capsules and goldenseal root capsules for 10 to 14 days. These are available at health food stores. Symptoms will start to subside after 24 to 48 hours. Continue the treatment just like you would an antibiotic prescription.

  2. 10, 000mg Cranberry tablets can reduce the odour and irritation and are available at the supermarket, chemist or health store just take 1per day as needed.

Drink lots of water to literally flush out the infection. 6-8 cups at least to prevent reinfection.

Good hygeine is necessary to prevent future infections and if you are prone i recomend twice daily showers and trimming the pubic hair that can harbour bacteria (thats right i am talking about hair care down there).

If you are female don't forget the basics. Wipe your "bits" from top to bottom. If a guy then retract and clean under f******n (if not circumcised).

Any prolonged UTI (more than 5 days with a fever or significant pain) should probably be treated with antibiotics.

If sexually active then use condoms.

    Hope this helps,

  3. I would ask an adult to take you to the doctor. An untreated UTI can lead to a kidney infection and you don't want to mess with that. A doctor can put you on antibiotics to help the symptoms of the UTI or you can go to the store and buy something like Uristat, that will only mask the symptoms though. You need to go to the doctor.
