I have reoccurring canker sores that hurt extremely bad, i get them everywhere, gums, inside cheeks, tongue, roof of my mouth. My question is what are some things i can do at home to help rid my mouth of these horrid things. I know pretty much everything about them i know what not to eat & what to eat more of, i know what tothpaste to buy & what to steer clear of, but that never seems to work. Thank you!

  1. I get canker sore from stress and stress alone, my whole family is prone to them.

Straight hydrogen peroxide might not taste great, and don't swallow it, but it will help clean the area and help them heal faster. I've tried vinegar and salt water and not had much luck, but baking soda and warm water worked okay for me, I just find the taste of peroxide less... Severe. :)

You can also get OTC Gly-Oxide to clean them and there's a mouth rinse called Rincinol that should be available in most drugstores and supermarkets that actually coats any open wounds in your mouth to help prevent more bacteria getting in.

    Hope you feel better!

  2. Hi.  I used to have the same problem.  However, every since I started brushing my tongue the problems have mostly gone away.

I brush my tongue (with toothpaste) very thoroughly before bed & then another quick go-over in the morning.

  3. Do you know what is causing them? That is your biggest piece of information there. Repeated and numerous canker sores are not a normal occurance. They could be a symptom of a larger problem such as allergies, stress disorders, etc... and its the larger problem that should be treated.

K, getting that piece of advice out of the way, here's 2 good sites on home remedies for canker sores. The first is one I use a lot as it's home remedies from various people writing in to say what works for them.
