Home remidies for cleaning green pool?

Question

my pool is starting to turn green and my local stores have stopped putting pool supplies as well as other things out on the shelves since summer is pretty much over. I havent been able to buy anything and the nearest pool store around is about 2 hrs. away. Does anyone know how to get rid of the green without emptying the pool and refilling it? at least till i can make the 2 hr. drive to get some pool shock...?

Wal-mart sells pools supplies,Target also sells pools supplies,at least they do in california,and a very large selection.

someone suggested it to me, look under the section that says green pool water, make sure you don't have salt water pool before adding chemicals
