Home-run legends in the history of Major League Baseball
The fame of baseball as a ‘National Pass-time’ in America shows its importance for US residents. Since the inception of the game in 1700s, this sport has produced men whose name will be written in golden words in the history of baseball.
Like many sports, there have been many invaluable players in the history of Major League Baseball. There are many ways by which a potential of a player can be judged and one of these is a home run statistic. A home run is, when a batter hits the ball out
of the park, within a fair territory, or the runs scored by the batter and all the base runners touch the final plate inside the park.
The crowns of most home runs in Major League Baseball are three players from three different teams.
Barry Bonds of Pittsburgh Pirates holds the first position followed by Hank Aaron and Babe Ruth on second and third place, respectively. Amazingly, the African-American occupy all three positions. Only those players who have scored more than 700 have been
added in this list.
Babe Ruth: Everyone’s Hero
Unexpectedly, number third on the list is ‘Everyone’s Hero’ the Babe Ruth. The Sultan of Swat played in Major League baseball from 1904 to 1935. His 14-year stay in New York Yankees was the best part of his career. Yankees won seven World Series during his

The left-handed pitcher and hitter, has been named as the best player in the history of the baseball and was recognized by more than 97 percent Americans over the age of 12 in a survey conducted by popular sport's website. Ruth made 714 homers with 0.342
batting average and 2,873 hits. His 60 home runs came in one season and was a record, which stood for 35 years.
The African-American was the true king of the baseball in all respect.
Hank Aaron: Bad Henry
Second on the list is another African-American, from the Milwaukee Braves. Henry Louis 'Hank' Aaron was a right-handed hitter. Aaron was born on February 5, 1934 in Alabama. He started his career with Braves on April 13, 1954. Hank, best known as Bad Henry
or just Hammer, in his 23-year long career was popular for his consistency, and performing under pressure.
Aaron was the part of every All-Star team except for two years in his entire career from 1954 to 1976. Hank’s many records in Major League baseball include 2,297 RBIs, and most careers total bases of 5,856. Hammer also managed to set most careers hit record
3,771 and most at-bats of 12,364.
Hank broke the record of Babe Ruth in 1974, when he accomplished his 755 home runs with career averages of 0.305. After this record, the Major League Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig announced 'The Hank Aaron Award' as a tribute to Hank Aaron in 1999. Until
then this award is awarded to overall best hitter chosen from the both the National and American League every year.
Barry Bonds: the most Prolific Player in MLB
Barry Bonds is the number one in the list of Most Runs by a player with 762 with 0.298 batting averages and 2,935 hits. Barry Bonds, born on 24 July 1964, was left fielder for the Pittsburgh Pirates and the San Francisco Giants. Barry started his Major League
career with Pittsburgh in 1986, moved to San Francisco in 1993 and remained there until his retirement in 2007.
Bonds, is a first player to win four (out of seven over all wins) consecutive MVP Award from 2001 to 2004. He became the part of All-Time Star team for 14 times. He also won eight Gold Gloves. He is not only the holder of Most Home Runs record in a single
season, he also has Most Runs in one post-season, Most runs against different pitchers and the Most Runs after turning 40.
His statistics made him the most prolific player of the baseball history.
