  1. a few home safety issues that i can think of are childproofing the house- you know, like making sure if you have a pool there is a cover or other ways of protecting the child from drowning, keeping gates at the top and bottom of staircases, keeping trash cans from being opened to keep children from getting things they might choke on, etc. community safety, i would think making sure the neighborhood is "safe", that you are not living near pedophiles or convicted criminals, etc.

  2. Girlintheshadows made some good suggestions. I would, also, suggest putting protective covers in plug sockets, safety gates to keep children from falling down stairs or not so safe areas in the house. You can go to this website to find more suggestions:

  3. Putting those special locks on drawers in the kitchen, bathroom and linen closet. Labeling items with "Mr. Yuck" stickers. Have the child point out things that a sticker would go on and together talk about things that are poisionous and only for grown-ups to touch.

Also, talk to your child about emergency vehicles like the police, ambulance and fire fighter. What they do and how they help the community. Discuss 911 and how it is used for emergencies.

Depending on the age of the child, have them memorize their phone number and address. (Kids should be able to begin memorization at ages 3 or 4)

  4. dont know sorry
