Sooo I'm planning to get home schooled this year and well I've been doing my research and it's quite hard to understand the system. Actually I wanted to get my lessons and work all through the computer which I suppose it's cyber home schooling, but I can't fins any sites...I only found one but it was wayyyyy too expensive. Okay soo for home schooling I know a parent is suppose to teach you, but my parents don't have time because they work and have errands to do, I mean I could try asking my mom but idk if she'll want to, BUT my parents don't really speak english soooo might this be a problem? I know tutors can come to your house, but that sounds wayyyyy too pricey. Help me please, any websites or advice...I live in Texas :)

  1. Actually, if you're old enough, your parents don't need to teach you - they only need to hold you accountable for your work and provide the resources for you.  Your writing sounds like you're in high school, and you seem motivated, so this could be something that could work for you.

Honestly, my 6th grader is almost completely independent in several of his subjects; I only work with him on the subjects that he needs instruction in.  The rest of them, I assign him things to research and learn about, and assign him evaluation projects, but he takes the initiative and does the work on his own.

Many homeschool curricula will teach directly to you, especially when you get into high school.  If you give us an idea of how you like to learn (reading and writing, listening to resources, video instruction, hands-on projects, etc.) and what sort of worldview you're looking for (Christian, secular, etc.), we can point you toward some resources that may work for you.

  2. Most states  offer free cyber schooling.. My kids use PA Leadership Charter school and love it....And at your age, you parents wouldn't have to help you much, it's very easy to understand.. see what your state offers.

  3. Try....  http://www.k12.com/getk12/

This is a public program so there's no cost to you. And you can work independently so you just need your mom's permission.

Here are the laws for your state in an easy to understand format. http://www.hslda.org/laws/analysis/Texas...
