  2. I see you have some comments already.  In that note---make sure your kids do spelling over the summer!

I am ever grateful to Pearson.School.com.  But I do agree with taking a summer break--one or two hours at school fine, but isn't this a time to go swimming, out for ice cream, camping?

Art, well the skies the limit on that one because we live and breath it here!

    Local library close by?

    Good luck to you.

  3. god, you want to teach them whayou think they should learn?? why dont you just ask them what they want to learn, ey might not like what you shove at them, homeschooling is not about working in notebooks or giving your children things to learn that you think they should learn, they sould learn only what they realy need to know like maths and the rest they should only learn if they are actuall interested in, I absolutely agree one hundred percent with harchick the girl who commented above me^^^... in the summer they should be playing and exploring themselves and using their imagination and having fun not bloody studyig in notebooks for god sake woman! itought you were home-schooling your kids and the whole point of home-schooling your kids is that you do things differently to the school system other wise you migh as well have just sent them to school

  4. If you have a blank wall or garage door handy have them design and create a mural.

Research, create the equipment and learn to play an unusual sport like croquet.

Pick some good foreign language films (age appropriate of course), have them watch them and then write reviews and publish them in their own paper or web site.

Play fantasy stock market 'giving' each of them a starting sum to spend on whatever shares they like then act as their stockbroker whenever they want to 'buy' or 'sell'.

the type of thing i'm looking for is worksheets and things to do in notebooks...

    RESPONSE:

Worksheets on art?  Worksheets on a foreign language?  Worksheets on sports?

    How incredibly boring.

Surely your kids don't want to do worksheets over the summer holidays.

Summer is a time for endless exploration, lying on your back in a field of daisies, blowing grass whistles, watching the clouds form and regroup.

Summer is a time to visit a museum, walk a freedom trail, plant tomatoes, hike through the Appalachians, visit a farmer's market (where migrants are speaking the target foreign language?), swim in a lake, bike to town, explore the local tourist spots.

Summer is time to chill, yes, but you learn so much about yourself while you're looking for things to do.

My God, Mom, don't subject your kids to notebooks over the summer!  That'll kill all their curiosity and desire to learn for learning's sake.
