  1. What state are you in?  Naming your state may draw much more specific answers, here.

    Go to this link:

    http://www.hslda.org/laws/

find your state and see the requirements.  Usually they aren't that difficult to meet.  Go to yahoo groups and do searches for homeschooling groups in your area.  Join the state homeschooling organizations - they are usually excellent resources for info, networking, etc., and usually are inexpensive.

  2. First I would suggest that you read up on the laws in your area...here it is the The Texas Education Code (TEA) for short. They mandate the laws about homeschooling and there is a lot of information on what is required by the state, even can point you in the direction of how credits are obtained amoung other things you will need to know before beginning. I homeschooled my son last year and this site was very helpful. Good luck!

  3. First, and no offense do not go to TEA.  Go to. http://www.thsc.org/defaultpage.asp  TEA is an anti home school teachers association. Second to be homeschooled there are many choice. You can write me with questions if you want. Are you interested in online classes? There are correspondence schools, and you can just go to Mardel's and buy a curriculum there. Many school districts have thier own online homeschool curriculum now.

A home schooler by law has no requirements at all. You will read things about the curriculum has to contain this and that. It does not. You graduate when your parents say you are graduated.

Colleges are glad to accept your home schooling.

It is very important that you use the letter provided by the http://www.thsc.org/defaultpage.asp to withdraw and nothing else. Do not fill out any forms or answer any question by your current school. You could set a precedent that they have the right to ask for the rest of us.

  4. Since you are just starting into homeschooling, it may be best if you enrolled in a correspondence course, like ABeka or Christian Liberty Academy.  Christian Liberty will send you all the materials you need for a certain grade.  I use them as a guideline as to what I need.   Also you need a list of the graduation requirements for your state and you need to know the laws for the state you are in.

  5. As for class ideas, look at what your school would offer next year if you stayed there. Then maybe add on a few extra credit classes. Also, look around at the homeschooling groups. Sometimes they offer classes and such like drama, yearbook, and chorus.
