  1. yeah, the district is screwed up

  2. try taking him to a diffrent school

like berry creek they always let you have your kid go 2 where

he needs to be any day

  3. Issue one yourself. Homeschool parents are allowed to do that. Your son does not need an accredited diploma to go to college. Try going on the website of any college he's considering and finding out what their requirements for homeschooled students are. You'll find that most colleges will not require a diploma or a ged, but rather a written transcript and SAT/ACT scores, and possibly additional testing.

  4. Here's some info from hslda:

    http://www.hslda.org/highschool/faq.asp#...

You may want to contact them.

  5. As a certified teacher, you must know that colleges do not ask for diplomas, they want transcripts and test scores.

In your state, the laws are heavy and require tons of paperwork on your part, including attendance records, portfolios of work, yearly notarized letters of intent, copies of reviews and testing scores.

You have more than enough to generate a transcript and you have the authority to print a diploma for your son.

I'm not sure if you are either not clear on what has happened. If the superintendent of your home district did not approve what you submitted, he was required by law to submit a notarized letter to you explaining the circumstances and how to remedy it. If he did this, you have the right to appeal and ask for a review.

  6. Wow...that's pretty lame on the part of the district...but then again...they are known to not like us homeschoolers...

I'm also surprised that it's stopping him from college. Both of my sons got into college without a HS diploma and many colleges find ways around the piece of paper and would rather have HS students coming.

I'd say perhaps the easiest thing might be to find out when there is a GED test scheduled and let him get that. It should be easy to ace and then move forward.

    Good luck!

  7. The GED test is the only way.  There are a few homeschool programs that award diplomas under various state rules if you take some of their programs, but the GED is probably the best way.  Also take the SAT/ACT test.

  8. Yes you can offer one yourself if you really must have that paper. Colleges want transcripts not diplomas. Are they providing transcripts?
