  1. 1. Technically it's free, unless you choose to pay something for a class, coop, online, etc.

    2. Yes, your parents assign one.

    3. Yes, we've done it several times.

  2. Mine is free... with the exception of a constant internet connection, in which they pay $35 of.

I'll be receiving mine next year, just because your doing your work at home doesn't mean you don't get a diploma, it's still school.

You can, but some stuff is challenging, it's possible, with time, effort and commitment.

  3. -Depends on how you do it. It can cost next to noghing, or you could be working through a program that charges tuition, or using an expensive curriculum package.

-Yes. You may get one from the state if you work through a public program, or you may get one through an online school if you work through them, or your parents will issue one. It will most likely not be acredited, but for homeschoolers it does not need to be. Colleges only want to see a homeschooler's SAT/ACT scores, transcript, application (which may include an essay) and occasionally extra subject testing or a portfolio review.

-Yes, you can get all your work done very fast if you're a fast learner. I personally tend to finish English in just a few months, and I did the same with Government this year. I used up my english curriculum for 12th grade and I'm only in 11th, so next year i'm going to be taking college level composition classes. Same with social studies. Sometimes I'll finish everything very early and be considered "done" with the curriculum for the year and will engage in more leisurely learning...learning from life while having fun. E-mail me with any more questions. I'd be happy to help.

  4. Homeschooling can be free (if you use resources like the library) or cost thousands of dollars (if you use expensive curriculum).

Yes, you can get a diploma.  It represents that you have completed a program.  If the association/program that you homeschool through, if you use one does not supply one then your parents can legally make you one (as they can if you do not go through an association or curriculum supplier).

You can certainly work at your own pace, but whether you can complete it within a few months and be done for the year depends on where you reside-some states have requirements for how many days you must be taught.

    I hope this helps!

  5. It cost nothing but your time.

    Yes, you get a diploma

You can get your "work done" but the most important thing is that getting your "work done" is not the objective.  Learning is the objective and you can learn to learn and continue to learn until you are as old as I am.

  6. -cost differs from schools. I'm in Penn Foster, it cost a little over 1 grand for all four years.

-Yes, I will be getting a diploma this year.

    - Yes, very possible.

  7. Cost - varies.  It can be done for free.  It can also be done for thousands of dollars a year.

Diploma - yes.  Although you really don't need one...many homeschoolers make a seamless transition from homeschool to college/work life.

Time factor - yes, you can get a year's worth of schooling done in a few months.
