  1. How did you get in contact with the birthmother from the failed adoption?

Speaking from someone who has been there!  You want to wait until you can use an agency....adoption is a rollercoaster no matter how you go about it, but not using an agency adds extras ups and downs that are REALLY VERY difficult to go through.  If you thought adopting through foster care was hard, by the end of the private adoption process you will think it was a piece of cake!

We signed on with an adoption facilitator to save some money in the beginning and it was the worst move we could have made!  We lost $7500 and many tears.  We were called about 22 "matches" in one year and none of them worked out.  We were just emotionally drained, we decided to not "renew" our contract with this facilitator and start trying to save our money so we can sign on with an adoption agency.

We used Family To Family Adoption Inc. in Richmond Texas.   (We are from the Dakotas)  We had to wait a little while extra, but it was worth the wait.  The ladies there made the bringing of our daughter home a wonderful experience.  Everything went very smooth, and once we were matched, we were able to adopt that child.

It did cost about $17000, but it was worth waiting for.  We took out an equity loan on the house for $10000, and for the other $7000 we were able to get an interest free loan for adopting parents through something called the ABBA Fund.  Many big churches have big funds like this.

Family To Family Inc contact info is this....

    good luck

  2. First of all, clean up your posts and/or profile.  It does not read well at all.  Many misspelled words and improper grammar.

This will be a birthmother's first impression of you.

Adoption costs, unless you go through the state, as you have for foster care.  If you had gone through an agency, you would not have lost the money you spent on your failed adoption.  Ethical agencies have a purpose -- to protect the clients.  You might want to look into adoption facilitation, such as AdoptLink.

    Good luck!

  3. You could go to

    http://www.adoption.com/

    to post your profile.

Your best bet, though, would probably be to seek out an attorney if you wanted to do a private domestic adoption.

Another option you  might consider (you may have already thought about it) is to see about adopting a child in foster care who have had parental rights terminated.

  4. Try going to adoptex.org, a nonprofit adoption organization in your area.

    Good Luck!
