I have a 37 Inch Flat Screen Olevia with a regular Cable cord for Tv channels. As of right now it plays sound through TV speakers. I would like it to play the sound through my JVC TH-D5 Home theater. Right now I have a HDMI cord between the TV and Home Theater, also have HDMI coming from PS3 into TV. I would like to have sound from regular tv channels , and the sound while I play Ps3. I have an Optical Cable I just bought and tried to put from PS3 into Theater, not sure what settings the Home theater has to be on, nor the PS3. If at all possible I would like to Have the Ps3 Connect to TV through HDMI then have the Optical from the Tv into the Theater and play sound from both. Please Help

  1. The last hook-up you mentioned would be ideal, that way you would get your PS3 and your Hd cable channels in Dolby Digital, but I don't think your t.v. has HDMI pass through.  If it doesn't it won't send out surround sound through the optical port.  Your best option would then be to run your PS3 directly with the optical and your t.v.'s analog outs to your JVC.  The only thing your sacrificing is 5.1 for your hd cable channels.  As for settings, set your PS3 to Dolby Digital and your t.v's audio out to fixed (if applicable).
