  1. I suppose that organic potatoes fried in canola oil at home are healthier than fast food fries fries.

But, when you think about all the calories and oil, Fench fries just aren't all that good for you.

Home made fries made right will beat fast food fries every time.  You  can control how crispy they, the size you want, and the seasoning. Don't use frozen.  Cut your own potatoes.  For really great fries, scrub your potatoes throughly with a brush.  Don't peel them.  YUM.

Yes, I gotta make fries once in a while.  The food police haven't banged on my door yet.

  2. yeah homemade

    u made me hungry

  3. healthier: home-made

it is because you can control how much oil & salt you put in it.

sometimes, people bake fries, which is even healthier.

  4. homemade

  5. Both have their place.  When you cannot cook them ordering out is fine, but at home you can bake them, and not fry them.....way better flavor....well more potato flavor anyway.......grease is good. LOL

  6. homemade.

i work in fast food, and they add the salt to it, and the grease in the fry pans are changed once every three days...

    it's freakin' nasty as heck.

sometimes when they fall on the floor, they pick them all back up and put them back in the fry pan for ten-20 more seconds to make sure to get the dirt off of them.......

    it's nasty.

    like.

    bad.

    peaceout.

  7. home made, especially since i can make them as crispy as i want!

  8. definitely homemade.

  9. definitely home made....that way i can use a paper towel to drain them on and another one to dab off excess oil. Also I can use olive oil for frying (not the extra virgin just the normal one) and use deliciously healthy organic potatoes. yummmm

  10. home made frnech fries wayyyyyyyyyyy yummier cause as the cook you control what goes onto the french fries IMO

have you have fench fried yams delish....

  11. homemade, especially if you bake instead of fry.

  12. i prefer a homemade "wedge" style fry cut the spud into wedges coat in olive oil kosher salt and pepper bake at 400 or so till tender

  13. Homemade, I love homemade fries.=)

  14. homemade are healthier. fast food tastes better.

    that is all.

  15. i like home made ones cause you can choose the oil, potatoes, and how cooked you want them

plus they will be fresh and taste much better than old mcdonalds fries that sit there for days or longer who knows

  16. fast food french fries

    =]

  17. Home made for sure.  You have control over what kind of fat they cook in so you aren't eating fries cooked in weeks old oil and who knows what's in it and what kind of unhealthy oil!

The real taste test is this:  eat a fast food fry cold vs a home made one cold.

My favourite way to cook potatoes is this:

Slice your potatoes into whatever shape you want (I like them in cubes about 2 cm square).  Put them in a microwave-safe dish.  Toss in a couple of pinches of herbs (oregano and basil are my faves) and just enough olive oil to coat them.  Note:  do NOT put in salt at this point because they will make the texture of the potatoes dry.  Microwave them until they're almost done (6 minutes for two potatoes on high works in my micro).  While you're waiting, heat a non-stick fry pan until it's hot, and add a pat of butter.  Dump the potatoes from the microwave in.  Note:  use an oven mitt, they're very hot and stand back because they might spatter as they hit the pan.  Add salt to taste.  Keep them moving in the fry pan until they're nicely crisped and cooked all the way through. When they're cooked, splash with balsamic vinegar and sprinkle with fresh ground pepper.  Makes 2 side dish servings.

  18. Homemade by far, unless you fry them up in lard.

Homemade ones have far less preservatives, less fat (saturated and trans), and less calories.

Might not taste as good, but I'm always willing to sacrifice a little taste for something healthier.

  19. anything homemade is healthier
