Homeade roach traps. Should i use fresh coffee grounds or can i use already used ones in the coffee machine?

do they have to be dry or can i just use the wet ones in the coffee filters in the machine? (i can let them dry outside i guess. Also can roach chew through stuff b/c i'm cutting off the top of a plastic bottle and taping the top so there's only a hole to drop down in and get the coffee but they have to crawl up the sides to get out, which will be lined with a gel (petroleum or i might get roach gel)

why is coffee grain and attractive to roaches anyway?

thanks all help appreciated b/c i don't know how these TWO INCH SUCKERS GOT IN MY PLACE and i got company coming over next week!!!

You can use the ones that are already used. Wet is good because it would let the aroma of the coffee out for the roaches.

I live in Florida and no matter how clean I keep my place I still see huge ones! I moved into my place last December and really didn't see my first one till last May. Then there was a stretch when I saw a ton of them. I went to the store and bought the spray and some placement traps. I saw dead ones laying on their backs almost every morning after that for about two weeks. I sprayed all the baseboards, where the plumbing is under the sink, under the stove, etc.. It has worked! I give the credit to the spray..  Remember that for the most part roaches are nocturnal. So, you are probably not seeing the whole problem. They live in your walls and where plumbing is. They can actually live off the bindings of books as food! You have to attempt to kill them as apposed to trapping them. That's the only way. Id consider hiring a pro. to do the job if you need it done that quickly. I'm sorry but I have never heard of the coffee method before.
