Homebound education?

If you get that are you not allowed to leave your house because is says

Homebound education is a service for students

who, for severe physical or severe emotional

reasons, are unable to participate in any activities

outside the home beyond appointments, medical

tests and therapy.

Does this mean im not able to go out the eat with my family oe go anywhere or do anything

My therpist suggested i do this but she also wants me not to be stuck in the house she wants me to get out the house and join things...so with the homebound education am i allowed to leave my house

I have severe Anxitey,deppression and OCD this is why i can not attend sccool

Homebound education does not mean that you are not allowed to leave your house, at all.  It means that, due to your emotional issues, you don't do well leaving the house on someone else's time schedule.  Another person's time schedule creates stress for you and it's difficult.  Schools can not stop you from going other places with your family or friends.


  2. Well, according to federal law, homebound is for children who cannot otherwise learn in a public setting, so i think your district has 'fingered' up the law to keep people in the school setting. You may certainly leave the house, I know SEVERAL students who have received homebound while depressed or suffering from anxiety.

    I'd read up homebound services at www.wrightslaw.com, and then call your districts legal services as well as special services director.

  3. You can leave your house.  Homebound guidelines are written strictly, so that if it is being abused, services can be terminated more easily.
