Can I hire a homebound teacher myself? The reason I ask this is because I'm on sick leave for the remainder of the school year which is four weeks. My school says it's too late in the school year for me to be assigned a teacher, but I'm on sick leave so what can I do? I really need help.I need to find something to do so I won't lose my credits.

I live in Tennessee (metropolitan) if that helps.

  1. I thought if you were told by your doctor (with a note to the school) that you had to be home - I thought your school was required to get your work to you for the time you are out.  I think you might just have to get a friend to agree to bring your work home to you - and then pick it up and take it back to school.  That is how it is here - I would definitely call a top person at the school about this.  It's not your fault you are sick!

  2. Every state and district has their own rules, so I would contact your school's district administrators and check with them.  I am pretty sure, though, that if you are on official sick leave, that they are required to provide teaching assistance to you.  Perhaps just a phone call to that effect will clear it all up.

    Good luck and FEEL BETTER!
