Homeless shelter - I need a grant?

I want to make a homeless shelter but the house my parents are paying on has a long way to go (the value of the house is 90,000 but it is not worth that much in my opinion as it is really old and needs a lot of repairs) Any who my question is can I get a grant to fix it up and create a homeless shelter? I want one that will feed and house people (obviously not many but more than zero obviously) the whole point of it mainly would be to have some where to go especially in the cold months but at all - for food - as we do not have many places in Rhode Island (pawtucket) for food - I do not know of any except one in providence ( I THINK ) so give honest helpful answers please!!!

Your best bet is to seek for private grants or grants from private foundations.

The best resource for this is Foundation Center http://www.fdncenter.org . They have a very good database covering all organizations giving grants and you can find foundations that are interested in supporting your type of cause. However, it's a subscription based website ($19.95 per month I think is the cheapest subscription price). But it certainly is worth the fee. You can subscribe one month, and make sure you get all the info you need and then stop the subscription.

If you want to try federal sources, you can go to the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) http://www.cfda.gov and Grants.gov http://www.grants.gov - these are two sites created by the federal government to provide transparency and information on grants.

CFDA has several ways to search for grants. I suggest you search by beneficiary and select Private Non Profit Organization and you can find listings of grants available http://12.46.245.173/pls/portal30/CATALO...

However, to be able to get grant awards, you need to be 501C(3) certified from the IRS http://www.irs.gov/charities/charitable/...

Try to get some help from the UN see what they will arrange you for such circumstances, hope the place they would place you in Prison or any places that's for refugee. Urge for food and shelter which is not a home but homeless palce that will only relevant to the answer of Prison or refugee camp. Do you want to go there, there is nothing like pawtucket as food and it's just a place of free food that can feed you and very worth because it ain't pay anything but it's a providence for your need. This is the only help I can give to you, the whole point is it could be better in Rhode and whether you want to go for it. It have many places Un could place you as well. And you won't feel any colder month perceeded your life in those palces. obviously it more thatn two places for your option, andyou can bring the house people for a same trip as my suggestion.
