Question:

Homemade Kitten Playpen? Any Advice?

I have 4 baby kittens. They are all around 4 weeks old. We have them in one of our bathtubs, but we are wanting to get a playpen set up for them so that they will have more room to run around. I don't have the money to buy a playpen at a store, especially since I only need the playpen for another couple of weeks and then they'll be big enough to roam the house. Any suggestions on how to make a homemade one? I don't have access to any wood, metal, etc. And really, I'm looking to build something that is round. You know, like those big round gates you can get. Thanks!

  1. I find it hard to believe you don't have access to any building materials, unless you live in the middle of a desert, you should be 20 minutes away from somewhere to get some.  Easiest thing i can think of is chicken wire, rig something up with that.  A baby gate works well to make enclosure, put 1 or 2 up in doorways and voila.

Another thing that would work is snow fence, (usually bright orange used for temp fencing), may be easier to get under thou.

  2. I know you didn't want to spend a lot of money on a playpen, but if you have any stores that sell second hand things you might be able to find one pretty cheap. Otherwise go to your local hardware store and ask for cheap fencing. they should have chicken wire or something like that just make sure to keep an eye on them, they'll soon be able to climb out!
