Question:

Homemade martial arts training gear?

i was wondering if any fellow martial artist could help me out with some ideas on making homemade training gear for my training area. Some things I have made just from stuff Ive found around the house and in the woods:

-makiwara board

-a wingchun training dummy, got the idea from here:

i made it out of a 2x4 board, a few aluminum poles bent and rapped in rope to simulate the arm, bath towels and ductape to simulate the face and midsection

hanging heavy back made out of a sack filled with dirt

-bicycle tire tube that acts as a resistance band for practicing kicks/strikes

-a tree brance (still on the tree) for forearm conditioning and blocks

anybody else got any other ideas? i love making this stuff myself, as opposed to wasting a ton of money to buy the gear. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated, thanks a lot

  1. im sorry i dont have any suggestions...but i would like to say something to Sensei

He was not "promoting" any product, merely stating where he got his ideas from to make his homemade stuff. cmon have some common sense.

  2. Traditonal martial artists are known to train by kicking trees and punching rocks but they are getting proper instruction in how to do it.

So your homemade gear may help you provided you are properly trained in its safe use.

  3. Don't try to promote any products on this board.

Go somewhere else with that BS

There are a bunch of "users" that come here with questions like this and always bring up this martial arm, with a link to the site where you can buy it.

They usually have the same "modus Operandi". Using a few different user names mostly ending in the same letter, which they were using at first - the "h". When they saw I caught on to them, they changed up.

Do you know this person? Are you buddies?

My Better Half has a background in marketing. She recognized the "strategy" just by looking over my shoulder.

Here's a link with all the names asking questions for finding apparatus in different cities...

Okay, if you are not promoting a product, here's something you can make up yourself...
