Homemade uv sterilizer would this work?

i own a UV torch could i rig it up to my filter so it shines on the output water

would this work

I do not believe the bulb will be strong enough to do any good.

Interesting idea, but I doubt it will work. The torch isn't strong enough, water will diffuse the light anyway and the target bacteria is being carried by the flow, so it isn't under the light long enough for any effect.

Just an opinion though :0)

Interesting idea. I don't believe though it would work as any kind of steriliser...but it would give a really cool glow to your tank ;)
