  1. Only if you're delusional. In that case the placebo effect which has been proven to have physical manifestations may help. If you are too smart though then you're screwed...

  2. It's a TOTAL fraud based on the principle of 'vaccines' : 4 instance, if U R allergic 2 something they take one drop of that allergen & put it in 100's of gallons of water;  then claim any drops from that water will cure your allergy - UTTER NONSENSE !!! - But people will always believe what is convenient 4 them 2 believe !

  3. they work very well for certain conditions, you can learn more at this site. your friend doesnt know anything, trust me

    http://www.homeopathicremediesfor.com

  4. Yes they work, i have used homeopathy through a qualified homeopath for the last 10 years and am amazed by the results. So much so i started studying to be a homeopath.

Each remedy is made as others have described above, a little of the substance taken and diluted down, sucussed inbetween each dilution.

The substances used are anything and everything under the sun eg. sepia = cuttlefish ink, lycopodium = a moss, ars = arsenic, bell = belladona etc.

As far as i am concerned the proof is in the results of using the remedies, i dont care that scientists cant prove things.  I guess you need to be in the realms of quantum physics to maybe start proving things like homeopathy, but i personally am happy to accept what i have seen and what i have personally experienced.

As for placebo effects apparently the biggest placebo effect is a man in a white coat with a large needle!  The next is a man in a white coat with a large, nasty tasting coloured pill, and so on and so forth, the average looking person offering a tiny white sugar pill is a fair bit further down the list of placebo effects!

  5. I don't get why IGNORANT people say it is rubbish.Don't post in the alternative health section if you do not agree morons!

Holistic health WAS modern medicine back when there were no medicines.Don't deny it..do your research!!

If they were rubbish, they would not exist.Simply that.

It's sad that people do not believe and choose to be absolutely stupid when it comes to this.Cancer can be prevented and treated with certain herbs.

They are there for a reason...nature had the power to heal.

People claiming that it's all a scam really have no room to talk because ANYBODY can grow herbs. There really is no profit unless you buy into bogus companies with bogus claims.

Very opposite of the medical industry that charges an *** load and ends up making you sick.

    To each their own.

Mind over matter doesn't work all the times idiots.Let them take their dangerous drugs that hurt the body.

Instead of taking prescription medications for anxiety, I use an amino acid and it works very well.

As for the OP, If you do decide to take herbs and whatnot, be sure to find a suitable company.Often herbs are not potent at those "supplements for cheap" sites and will not work nearly as well.Try a natural food store.

Be VERY careful when using Arsenicum. Why may I ask are you taking it? chances are you can find other herbs that can help with whatever you are trying to relive.

slow accumulation of the element in body tissues can cause harm to your body.

  6. Homeopathy is a fraudulent and dishonest practice based on ideas which are not supported by any logic, evidence or science.

    These ideas include the following:

    1. water has a memory (!!)

    2. like cures like e.g. to cure a stomach upset, you should ingest faeces

    3. diluting a substance makes it stronger

    4. shaken water is chemically different to unshaken water

We have overwhelming evidence against each of these things being true. And any one of these ideas being false means that homeopathy simply cannot work.

    Don't get scammed.

  7. Belief in a cure often makes for a cure.

This could involve a voodoo session, or taking a pill with nothing other than chalk as its active ingredient.

  8. It is a bit long, but take it in sections. It's the correct answer. I'm a homeopath.

Homeopathy works because the active part of it is the same energy as that of the disease (like cures like - this is very true), but it has been distorted by succussion. Succussion is when you shake the bottle and hit it against the palm of your hand between each dilution (or it's done by machines).

This succussion makes the energy of the substance unrecognizable to the body which therefore makes all efforts to reject it - and at the same time it rejects all identical energy, which includes the energy of your disease as well. Therefore you get at the same time rid of whatever caused your disease.

In homeopathy you take the substance that would normally give you the same symptoms as you are having now. This is "likes cure likes". I give you an example.

When you can't sleep, you should take homeopathic Coffee (coffea cruda), because coffee prevents you from sleeping. Your body will reject the energy of the homeopathic coffee (which is distorted and unrecognizable) and in so doing it rejects whatever "acted like coffee" and prevented you from sleeping in the first place. The result is that you now can sleep.

The dilutions in homeopathy have to do with whether the cause is physical (low dilutions) mental (higher dilutions) or emotional (very high dilutions) so we can give you exactly what you need according to the cause of your problem.

The fact that you get worse before getting better is the phase when the body starts fighting the unrecognizable energy and brings up all the similar symptoms. Very good sign in all homeopathy treatment! It means that the remedy was spot on!

    How it is made:

It is very easy and sometimes very beneficial to make your own homeopathic remedies! And everybody should learn this as more and more remedies are being removed from the market as they work too well.

It would be too long to explain in details, but basically you take one drop of mother tincture (the substance to be taken which has been dissolved in pure alcohol) and mix it with 100 drops of water. Shake 20-30 times and hit the bottle on your palm each time you shake. You've got a dilution at 1 CH (= one 100th Hahnemann).

Take one drop of this in a new bottle and mix it with 100 drops of water and go thru the same process. You've got 2 CH etc... etc…

This is the Hahnemann process. You also have other processes which is a bit different.

You realize of course that to make a 1000th dilution or 100,000th dilution would take a very long time. There are machines to do that or you can use radionics.

    Dangers

Detractors like to say that it doesn't work but at least doesn't do any harm. I dare them to take Carcinosinum or Tuberculinum in 5 CH during 3 months. We'll see what happens, and good luck!

The fact is that the wrong medicine taken too long will produce the symptoms which it is supposed to cure and can make you very sick. This is how Hahnamann used to test his remedies. If they gaven him the symptoms of the disease he was trying to cure, the remedy was perfect! It's not for nothing that homeopathy is reserved for medical doctors in France.

    A very good book:

    Homeopathy - Science or Myth?

    Author: Bill Gray, M.D.

    Publishers: North Atlantic Books

    Berkeley California

    ISBN: 1-55643-332-8

All the best and take care!

  9. I have to say i agree with Darren G. I heard it put very well in a medical journal recently. Homeopathy is like thowing a pint of beer in a reservoir and then hoping to get drunk by drinking the water.

  10. Homoeopathic medicine claims to work by reinforcing the body's ability to cure itself.  Symptoms are not produced by disease, but are a side-effect of your immune system trying to deal with the problem.  Taking a small dose of something that produces similar symptoms should help.

To understand homoeopathy and why it's considered "alternative" in the UK (it's mainstream in France and Germany), you need to consider it's history.  In the late 18th century, the Royal College of Physicians had abandoned medicine as being the old-fashioned unscientific nonsense of apothecaries.  They treated everything with purges, leeches, cupping and laudenham.  It was the patients' fault if they died.  Homoeopathic medicine became popular because it worked better.  The various remedies were exhaustively tested by the Faculty of Homoeopathy at the Royal London Homoeopathic Hospital.  They invented double-blind testing.  The Royal College of Physicians understandably rubbished them.

Homoeopathy remained popular until the early 20th century when patent medicines took over. They get rid of the symptoms more quickly than homoeopathy can cure the disease.  Once the Royal College of Physicians changed the definition of good health to being conscious and free of symptoms, homoeopathy in the UK became consigned to alternative medicine.  In other parts of the world, it is widely used.

One argument against homoeopathic remedies is that they are so dilute they contain none of the active ingredient.  Unfortunately the medical profession give up mathematics at GCSE level.  If homoeopathic medicine works, it's effect may easily be described using quantum mechanics.

Arsen Alb is a very dilute alcoholic solution of white arsenic (arseneous oxide) added to sugar pills.  It's used to stabilise the digestion.  6X is the usual dose.  30X is a more potent dose used for acute symptoms.  30mg of arseneous oxide would kill you!

  11. Sorry I can't really, because I have never used them.

Personal I think they are all rubbish.

  12. I think they are rubbish but there is the placebo effect, if you believe they can work they may do, i take herbal sleeping pills and i do benefit,

recently my blood pressure has been getting a bit high and my gp put me on beta blockers, they made me very tired and unwell because i did not believe in them, yesterday my gp gave me another type of blood pressure pill called amlovasc and i took one, read the instructions found the possible side effects horrific, so do not believe in them, today i just thought positive about my blood pressure and stopped salt and guess what it has started to go down.

Another example is ranitadine, rotten drug for heartburn i have taken for many years however the side effects are bad and i want to take as few pills as humanely possible, so i'm thinking positive about my heartburn, stopped taking them a few days ago and trying nibbling a small bit of bland food if i get heartburn.

  13.     I'm not a homeopath but I used to work as student with the London College of Classical Homeopathy in Wellbeck Street. There is a huge issue about the real success of homeopathy and, as I understand, there still some mystery about (a) how it work and (b) if indeed works at all. My conclusion is that it can probably work as complementary medicine and not exactly as a substitute. Indeed, apparently homeopathy results are more successful dealing with children minor problems that with adults.

  14. they work really well. we use em for our dog cause she gets freaked out during thunderstorms and car rides.

  15. sometimes, but if they don't at least they are not likely to do any harm.

  16. Many of the homeopathic medicines are the same ingredients as in your prescription medicines, just in different dosages.  Yes, some of them work depending on why you are using them.  If you have misdiagnosed an illness or condition, then you could be taking the wrong homeopathic treatment and of course, then it won't work.
