Question:

Homeopathy for allergies?

This question is only for those that practice homeopathy, not for skeptics! I am very new to the homeopathy idea. I was wondering if the "treat same with same" idea means I could make a remedy for pollen allergies, by using a sample of the pollen I'm allergic to? Or do you have to use ANOTHER substance that causes the same effect (i.e. runny nose, itchy eyes, sneezing, etc.)? It would be great if I could make a homemade remedy using the very thing that makes me sick to begin with! Thanks!

  1. No. Its the "like" that causes the allergy. The protein in the pollen gets into your system and your body mounts an immune response to it. Only a tiny amount of protein is required for this to happen.

You are allergic to pollen. If you have pollen around, you will get an allergic reaction to it. If there is no pollen, no reaction.

If you get some homeopathic cure that contains none of the actual pollen only the "memory" of the water then you will be fine. I'm not saying it will or wont cure your allergy.

But as long as there is no actual pollen it wont hurt you.

  2. I agree with bettyboo, but my mother in law is HUGE on homeopathic cures. When a friend of mine started complaining about allergies and not wanting to take over the counter or prescribed medication, I called her. She said to take alfalfa. While I wasn't too sure, I told my friend. Now not only does she take it, her kids do too. And it works for the whole family. Good luck!

  3. I have found that my allergies went away when my liver was no longer congested.  You might look into doing a liver cleanse/gallbladder cleanse.

  4. Hi Dustin,

What I use for allergies is honey. A few tablespoons of *LOCAL* honey each day (the more severe your allergies, the more tablespoons, but 1-3 tbsp is a good amount) will help rid you of your outdoor allergies. You can't use the honey you buy at the grocery store though, unless it specifically says that it has been locally cultivated. Your local farmer's market or local roadside produce stands are your best bet for finding the best honey. You wouldn't believe what a difference honey makes with allergies!

  5. You probably shouldn't try this on your own, as if you are very allergic to something, you can have a bad reaction to it.  I suggest seeing a homeopath.
