Have 2.5 month old boy with suspected sinus infection. Can hear congestion but no nasal discharge, Sinus drip is gagging him, thick green boogers can be extracted in the AM, rubbing face with hands and on me. He is a very happy content baby so I didn't notice discomfort right away-I feel he is to young for antibiotics and wanted to try homeopothy but I am not familiar with the remedies or the safety for such a small baby. Any suggestions? Also no fever or change in persona.

  1. I agree with the second answer. My pediatrician told us that infants generally cannot get sinus infections. A cool mist humidifier run during naps and extracting the boogers with a nasal aspirator are the best options. Squirting a few drops of saline up each nostril before using the aspirator can make it more effective.

  2. I really think you need to take him to the doctor, he is to young to be guessing what might be wrong and to use him as a guinea pig.

If you are hearing congestion,he really needs to see his doctor.

  3. okay I'm sure you know the disclaimers on this site.

this information is for your educational purpose and you use @ your discreation:

eliminate cow's milk and chemically based synthetic milk.  Breast Feed.

a small, minute amount of Olive Leaf extract.

a small, minute amount of Oregano oil extract.

due the the baby's age, you will have to or a professional practioner will have to determine the correct dosage.

as an adult, for infections I BULK up on those items, to clear something up.

  4. It's probably just viral and antibiotics wouldn't help anyway.  Babies don't generally get sinus infections because their sinuses aren't actually developed enough yet.  Make sure you give him plenty of fluids.  You could also try clearing his nose with a bulb syringe and nose drops may help a bit.  Good luck.

  5. While this may not CURE his sinus infection, it will temporarily relieve his congestion.  Rub some eucalyptus oil on his nose.  But you should really take him to the doc so it doesn't get worse!

  6. Get a vaporizer in his room which has hydrogen peroxide inside it.  That should be the most effective thing for curing it.  If you do this, it's important to

    a) use diluted food grade peroxide without additional contaminents in it.

    b) use a very low concentration of peroxide.  (my guess is .1%, but I'd have to look up the specific ammount people recommend).  If the concentration is too high, it can cause actual problems for your baby, whereas if it's too low it just is less effective, so I'm an advocate of being conservative here.

Colloidal silver might also be extremely beneficial and usable instead of peroxide if you don't want to do the more complicated procedure.

    Hope that helps!
