Recently purchased a home in a subdivision that is supposed to have an HOA. I did receive the rules/guidelines to go by for in the contract along with HOA fees. However, there is no contact information on who to contact to compalin on other owners much less who to send payment to. Another homeowner said she has lived there for 5 years and hasn't seen one bill for the HOA. What can I do? I know that this can have an effect on my title should I ever decide to sell.

  1. Interesting problem. Do none of your neighbors know anything about the association? Have you looked through your documents from closing?

My experience regarding HOA's is that they are like the IRS when it comes to getting their dues. Funny you can't find them even if you wanted to pay.

Does the HOA have a name? You might want to try googling it or trying to find them on anywho.com.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

  2. Call the title company or atty. that closed your loan for you.  They will have the info.  HOA's do not always send bills- however if they don't get paid they can put lien on property.
