I am thinking of purchasing my first home, and I was wondering about how much homeowners insurance would cost me. The home costs 200,000. Does anyone have any idea about how much that would be? I don't want to get into something I can't afford.....

  1. Are you looking for homeowners or fire Insurance. What year was your home built and what is the sq Ft of your Home not the lot.  ( I am An Insurance Broker)

  2. OK, it's going to depend on your credit score, the age of the house, the updates, the location, what deductible, etc.

When you shop for a house, ask what the current homeowner is paying.  No one here can hazard a guess what your rates would be.  If I had to pull a range out of the air, I'd say $1500 to $5,000.

  3. Depends on where the house is, the square footage, if you have any vicious dogs, your age, marital status, credit score, claims history. Call an agent and get a quote.

  4. For Farmers Insurance it would be around 50-100 dollars a month depending on endorsements added. For example jewelry.
