Question:

Homeschool Magazine for teens/kids?

Do you think that a magazine for the kids/teens would work? I'm homeschooled in gr 12, and I've seen lots of HS magazines for parents, but I have yet to see one for the students. I know that Josh Harris, author of "I Kissed Dating Goodbye" had one, but I don't think he's doing it anymore. So, do you think it would be a good idea to start one? What would you like to see in it?

  1. I read my mom's issues of "Court Report" myself, but I think this is a great idea.I'm not particularly creative myself,I just thought I might offer my encouragement =).

  2. ya that would be great fill it with kids talking about the experiences in homeschooling it would be awesome

  3. Yes.  It might make your rich too!

    Why not make two

    Homeschool Parents

    Homeschool Kids

That parents one would be a resource, maybe with quotes from kids about the various plans such as Abecka or Penn Foster

    Resource web sites.

Maybe do a state or country an issue and lists the rules and regulations.

So a special with price comparisions.

Do a special with Accrediation Comparisons

Do a Christian vs Secular special

As for the kids, do success stories

Find out how they deal with socilization issues

Find out who is going to college and at what age and how they got there with homeschool

Do the pitfalls too, find out where the failures are, what the wrong resources are.

Do this on Word or in a Publishing Program like PAgemaker and print it black and white 8 1/2 x 11 and do it on your home printer.

    Charge

Figure out how much it's going to cost you to publish and mail it.

How many issues can you do, maybe run up 12 issues in advance before you announce it.

You can also get a GRANT to do this.  You can apply for a $5,000 or even a $30,000 grant to put this together.

You might even be able to get a Tax Exempt status.

A guy I know started Music Connection in Los Angeles as a simply 8 pages offset stapled magazine and today it's a 60 pages, color, glossy, 5 web printing that is distributed world wide.

  4. Do you live outside the UK?? I you do then I don't think that Education Otherwise does anything but if you do live in the UK then E.O. has a great magazine with all the details of things going on for Home-schoolers and theres also a kids magazine with other kids addresses in so you can contact each other
