Question:

Homeschool Question?

This is something I have been wondering about for a while, pretty much since I began homeschooling. Basically I have been homeschooling for about 4 years, and I am 17. I get confused about what age females are in my age group, like I would assume a 14 year old chick is my age. This kind of creeps me out a bit, considering I am 17, and they are 14 or so. Is it that kids are just maturing physically faster these days, or is it me not being able to successfully distinguish ages?

  1. Some people just mature faster than others, and girls generally faster than boys.  It's very easy to see a 13 or 14 year old and believe they are 17.  Age just isn't so obvious after you hit teen years, because you are fully grown then.

If you are asking about dating ages... I think that for a 17 year old, 14 - 20 would be an appropriate range.

    :D

  2. No it's 14 year olds trying to be 17.

  3. my best friend is fourteen and she can pass for 17 easy.  So, it depends, my friend is tall, thin, and she's pretty good at getting guys to like her.  I'm 15, short, thin, cute... people say I look like I'm twelve.  I'm a year older and she looks older.  it's depressing.  but sometimes girls just try too hard, by wearing too much make up, the clothes they wear, stuff like that.

  4. im 14 and i try to act older, its probably the 14 year old trying to be older then they are

    watch the movie thirteen

  5. It's only three years difference.  Don't be so hard on yourself.  I went to public school and went out with a girl who said she was 16 and I believed her.  Turned out she was 13.

  6. Maybe as a homeschooler you don't see the delineation so easily because you haven't been brainwashed by being in public school.

But you are right, in that most 14 year olds are just trying to be older than they are, trying to prove something. It's not a big deal, if you like hanging with someone, hang with them. If you're looking for a date, you probably don't want to date someone who isn't as mature as you and without the same interests.

I love that my homeschooled kids can be friends with anyone, regardless of age.
