  4. Florida Virtual School also have a competitor many people do not know about "Connection Academy" .

Connection Academy is a rapidly growing form of free public school that students attend outside the walls of a traditional classroom. It combines strong parental involvement of learning at home, the expertise and accountability of public education, and the flexibility of online classes.

They provide each student with Free textbooks, lesson plans, online resources and other curriculum materials. If you dont have a computer they offer a free loaner and printer.

  5. Homeschooling like anything else is you get what you pay for.

If it's free, then you might have to go the community college route.

Most universities that are courting homeschooled seniors are looking at their curriculums... Calvert seems to be the 'curriculum of choice' as well as some curriculums that are put together piece by piece.

There is a book called "The Everything Homeschooling Book" byt Sherri Linsenbach,

that has lists, websites and resources to homeschool on a budget but also get a good quality education.  It takes time and dedication to put together the lesson plan for homeschooling, whether it's online or with a prepackaged or tailored curriculum.  So don't think that you can just start homeschooling from ground zero.

I've homeschooled for 6 yrs now and it's not easy.  From 7am to 8:30 I go over the lessons for the day.  We homeschool from 9 am to 2 pm and weekends are filled with my grading papers and such.

Try homeschool.com and see if there are any groups in your area that you can get in contact with for some advice.
