OK, simple question here.

I'm homeschooled, I have no intentions whatsoever of going to college. What do I do? If I recall correctly, people want proof of your education. Do I just tell them I was homeschooled and have them call up my mum or what?

  2. Ask your mom. She thought it was such a good idea. She obviously has all the answers.

  3. She should have a transcript prepared and some examples of your work would also be helpful. There are many options other than college. You could try a trade school. You could work a while and get a good idea of what you'd like to do professionally, then go to college. It's all up to you.

  4. If you have completed a state/province approved homeschool program then you should have some sort of a testing system in order to indicate a conclusion in your studies.  Most likely you have taken subjects that give you equivalent studies to what is taken in established schools.  You should have something equivalent to a transcript and than you should also receive the equivalent to your high school diploma.  That way you will be able to honestly answer prospective employers that YOU DO have a high school diploma....although for a leg up I would recommend college!

  5. What do you do about what?  You've given no specifics.

Assuming you mean in applying for a JOB, listing homeschooled is always a valid option.  Of course if your Mum was your primary educator, then yes, list her for inquiries.  If you are incapable of stating your position on being homeschooled to askers, you should talk your Mum about this now.

Surely you have been keeping a record of something that will reach a point of graduating from high school level education.  Your mom will know when this is and can give you a diploma if it makes your life easier.

I have a 16yr old son that has been working since he was 14, three different jobs.  He listed that he was being homeschooled, I made the work permit, set his hours according to our state laws.  His employers love that he is so bright, motivated, dedicated to his job and can work the day shift because he is homeschooled and not relegated to a few hours in the eves or just weekends.

Everything depends on what you want to do, then formulate your plan.

  6. In most states, parents just provide a diploma and transcript. If you live in a place where you are considered a private school, they can even "name" your school. You could also do the SATs just as proof of education level.

  7. You will prob. be tested.

Do you test at the end of a year? Or get evaluated by a teacher?

If you are not going to college ... What does it matter?????

    Good luck.

What do you think of being home schooled?

What "grade level are you in"

  8. Your proof of education will be the diploma your parents make for you.  You should be keeping a transcript and portfolio of your work also.

I worked for 13 yrs after high school and college before becoming a SAHM.  No one *ever* asked for proof of my high school diploma, or even proof of my B.S. degree for that matter.

  9. Your mom can make you a homeschool diploma.

  10. You do need something like a high school diploma or G.E.D..

Call the Board of Education for whatever state you live in and ask.  You will not be the first to go through the process.

    Good luck!

  11. If you are in the US, you finish your home school program, graduate, get your diploma, and get a job.

College is not for everyone, and is not the answer to everything.

You can look into a skilled trade, or wait a year or two until you do know what it is you'd like to do.

There are many jobs that provide on the job training, and will send you to classes that may be necessary to do the job, or obtain a license; see apprenticeship programs offered through companies.

    You have to start somewhere.
