I'm under 18 and I'm homeschooled. I'm not doing school now cause I plan to take the GED this year. So how am I supposed to get a work permit from the Board of Education? I want to get a job but a couple of places said I need a work permit.

  1. we need your age and state you live in to resolve this

  2. This is probably something that has to do with your state's laws.  Without knowing where you are, it's impossible to answer.

  3. You could work at places like smoothie king of a fast food restaurant if  you are sixteen.I was 14 and i got a job at the fast food restaurant  by my high school. And i didn't get paid half. I work for few  hours and i got paid a lot. What i did i called places in my area (with a phone book ) and asked people will you hire a 14 year old with a workers permit.I got mines from the high school.

  4. If you go to the county office- "town hall" they have them for home school students

  5. well you do; and its for your own good so you get paid and treated fairly-go to where they sell permits and ask the experts.

  6. We live in OK and here to get my daughter a work permit I called the Dept of Education, which is in OKC, and they sent me one and let me fill it out myself.  You have a couple of choices - you can call your local high school and see if they'll give you one, or have your mom call the WV Dept of Education.

  7. My sister started working at 15, but than again her boss went to our church. If your parents have filled out that slip at your school saying that your homeschooled than you don't need a permit.!

  8. Why are you getting a GED when your parents can issue you a diploma? Then you can go on to a Junior College and get your undergraduate studies done and all your testing there to go on to a University if that is what you want to do. Also you need to go to the school district to get a work permit if that is required in your State.

The only reason I am discouraging you from getting a GED is because colleges look at that as a cop out or like you slacked off versus getting a diploma. How hard is it for your parents to print on up with transcripts saying what you know and don't know.

  9. I didn't need one. But maybe I just flew under the radar. Anyway, just go to your local high school and ask for one.
