  1. I guess that because I want the absolute best for my kids I'm pretty selfish! lol

Seriously I guess that since I home school my opinion is pretty favorable of others. I love to meet others who home school.

I've met people of all types from super smart to kind of ditzy. The scary part is a lot of the kids I meet that are on the ditzy side are just putting on a show. Their not really as dumb as they make themselves look.

I thought my cousins were sheltered when they were home schooled. But since I have graduated home school has become much more popular. My home schooled cousins have degrees and have never set foot in a college or payed one penny into tuition! They received their teaching degrees by experience. They went to China and India for a few years and taught the children English as well as planting a seed for Jesus Christ in the hearts of the people they met. They helped smuggle Bibles into China. These girls put their lives on the line for Jesus in China and it makes me admire them more.

  2. I think they miss out on much needed social interaction with other people they dont know or wont get to know because they stay home

  3. We rock.

    We rock so very hard.

    LOL....

Seriously, I think no differently of HSers than anyone else.

  4. you take home skooled people as they come, (i was home skooled till yr 8.) some of the koolest people i know are or were home skooled and some people i have met recently i would rather stab in the heart than explain pleasantries lol, anyway answer is homeskooling is like anyother skooling in my opinion thers good/bad people from both

  5. you learn in life and from where is the way given to you

    go with it!

  6. Gosh, some of you people really make me mad.

How dare you feel sorry for me because my parents were 'selfish' in wanting to homeschool.  What if I told you it was always my decision to homeschool?  My parents never made me homeschool.  I wanted too.  My brother homeschool till 10th grade and then decided he wanted to go to school, so they they sent him.  We were never forced to homeschool.  I feel sorry for kids out there that don't get to choose.  Their parents are selfish in thinking that public school is the only option because it is free and mom can go work all day instead of spending time with her family.   At the end of the day I would rather have my mom there than at a job so we can live in a bigger house.  That is selfish.  If all you do is send your kids to public school and don't consider other options and/or don't let your kids have a say in their education, don't have kids.  Period.

I took school very seriously and now take college very seriously.  I have always made mostly 'A's'  and continue to do so in college.  Professors thank me all the time for leading group discussions that no one elae would start, my essay on homeschooling is being entered into a national essay contest for English majors (and I am not even an English major) by my professor, and I am attending school on two scholarships I was awarded because of academics.  And I homeschooled K-12.

As for the socialization myth, and yes, it is a myth, trust me.  Homeschoolers do not have a problem.  You are right, they may not get tons of interaction with kids their age.  But that is only because they realize the importance of interacting with people of all ages.  And I do mean all ages, not just all K-12 ages.

  7. Everyone has to learn this and I think home schooled people are at a disadvantage, but don't try to impress anyone. I understand making friends will be harder, but if you agree with everyone on everything, they'll just think you're boring.

  8. Home schooling is great Dont listen to the k***s on here !

They think that all homeschooled kids just stay indoors and dont talk to anyone they only think that cause they go by what they think ?

Why do you think alot of parents COMPLAIN that there kids wont listen to them hang around bad crowds at school  get bullied Then you pay some stranger to look after your kid while mums get to stay home and do f**ck all!

When you can do it yourself your kid learns better cause they get 1 on 1 interaction  not  50 to1 interaction!

PEOPLE say that parents are SELFISH for not letting them go to school MAYBE just MAYBE  the parents who take their kids to school are just too lazy and cant be fu**ed to do it them selves . Id rather my kids listen and do what I say not some teacher (stranger) Some people should WAKE up

Check out a book everyone i dare and READ it   Its called

IF YOU WANT TO BE RICH AND HAPPY DONT GO TO SCHOOL  it is fillewd with lots of interesting stuff  JUST READ by Robert .T.Kiyosaki

  9. I kinda think of home schooled people as a little gulibal and naive. They lack in social skills because they don't have many interactions with kids their own age. I often wonder if they take school as seriously.

  10. oh gosh I'm so annoyed by some of the answers on here. we're not gullible. and i find it great oops sorry, i mean YOU find it terribly BAD that we don't get that GREAT  (mmhmm) social interaction...why do you think most home school? i don't find it selfish, the child actually has to agree otherwise it would be pointless, and what makes you think that we don't take schoo0l seriously? because we're at home? it's hard but you learn discipline, and it isn't like public schoolers take their work seriously. i would learn even if school wasn't mandatory.

    Thanks!

  11. hi I'm thirteen and i have home schooling. I'm sick of people looking at me funny like i come from planet zog when they ask me what school i go to and i say i don't i have home schooling. it's like they don't know what your talking about and they just nod and smile. i mean were not aliens that have come to take over the world were just normal kids/teens/young adults.

  12. I think they are normal people who choose their own path.

I have Blondie's, they are funny, annoying, loving, not always the smartest .^_^. in all area's, but then again who is; wisdom, and common sense is much better than a ton of intelligence/book smarts

I love them dearly, and they have surpassed me, and my husband in several area's already, or so they think .^_^.

Sounds to me like you can hold your own.

Most of the home schooled children/young adults I know are confident in their abilities, know what they want, work hard, have plenty of academic/practical skills to built on, and are very independent; all the ingredients that you need to make it in life wouldn't you say?

Friends are important, but it is not the amount of friends that make you a better person, or enrich your life but rather the quality/character of the friends you surround yourself with.

Having two or three great friends is better than a boat load of acquaintances.

So chin up, the shopping, and looks thing will fade over time,; been there done that, so have my daughters, and as for finding it easier to study things you are interested in, well welcome to the rest of the human race.

  13. I feel sorry for them, and If their parents want to homeschool them it is selfish. There is a kid who just enrolled in my year ( grade) and he has been homeschooled his whole life, he's never had any friends and he can't make any becuase he doensn't know how. He can't talk to any kids, and is going back to homeschooling, becuase he is finding school so difficult, ( He even ran away from school!)
