Hi! do you use this? oldfashionededucation.com if you do, how can I find where you can print out tests, do they have tests or a quiz or something? I saw the 40 week curriculum thing, but do they have somewhere you can read the stuff they want you to? and after you read it, do they have a test on it? I like how it is set up but I'm kinda confused if you could help thanks!!!

  1. Yes I do use OFE (old fashioned education ) and no there are no actual tests to take for the stuff that Ms. Maggie has on her site.

There is a site where you can generate your own 'quiz' (that is make it up yourself). ***sorry can't think of the site at this moment, so I will edit this answer when I locate it****

Most of the books that Ms. Maggie has are simply suggestions of books to use. Many can be found on Free Domain sites (Mcguffey Readers are free domain) and you can download them and print them off..(I spent the money and actually bought the McGuffey set and got a CD with the books on it as well). Many of the books can be found on Amazon.com and can be purchased for very little money if you get them from the used section.

The 40 week curriculum 'thing' you saw was the work that Miss Maggie has done planning out the ENTIRE 40 weeks so that you or your Educator can get on with the learning/teaching. The website itself is not monitered for things like students doing work, it is simply a tool to help you on the homeschool road.

There is a Yahoo group for the website, but again it is not actually for students.

Contact me at ChildHomeAcademy@aol.com and I can load you up with websites to help you out.

  2. I had never seen this site but it looks very good. I intend to really take some time to peruse it. I tried downloading one of the texts and had no problem with it. I couldn't find tests so if you use these you might have to make up your own tests or search other sites. Personally if I'm going over assignments with my children, I can tell if they have the information and so we don't always need tests. For example if you get your math and spelling all done correctly in a book and can spell orally why test? I think schools often use tests because all the workbooks aren't checked for daily work. Hope that helps.
