Question:

Homeschoolers taking the GED test?

I have always thought of the GED as a degrading thing, but now I see it as an option to help myself. I became homeschooled in NC at the end of 10th grade, and now I am 17 and live in NM with my fiance. I was wondering if the GED would get me into state school, and how hard is the test itself? I am very strong in all subjects, but I still worry. Thanks!

  1. You should compile a homeschool transcript showing what you studied, and also study to take the ACT and or SAT, many, many, homeschoolers attend universities without the GED or accredited  diplomas.  I would apply that way first, then if they ask for a GED, you will be well prepared to take it anyway, since the ACT and the SAT tests are much more difficult and you will have studied for them.

  2. yea but you have more chance going to a junior college or a community college of some sort

  3. You'd be better off doing the ACTs or SATs. Check into whatever post-secondary you're looking at and find out their requirements. Also, check into state laws and find out if your parents can issue you a diploma.
