  1. Where are you in Canada?   That will make a bit of a difference as every province has such different laws.

    I'm in Alberta myself.

It's tough on here to really help out as it's such a short place to write anything and you get all the uninformed that say you should put them in school.    Feel free to email me and I can try to help you out as much as possible.   :)

Your kids are still young yet and homeschooling is so much fun at this age.  I wish my kids were still there.  *grin*

  2. Find a local homeschool support group. It's the best way to learn about the laws where you live, find out about resources available in your community, chat with others about how they do things (which work with your local laws), etc.

I don't know of any province requiring schooling for 2 and 5yo's, so this is a perfect time to learn more from others nearby what homeschooling is all about.

  3. I don't know about Canadian law, but where I am I get curriculum books at the local book store for my 5 year old and for my 2 year old we sing songs, look at the alphabet and numbers while talking about them, and we talk about colors we are wearing and see around us. There are many places to get curriculum from I've found that I like the 30 minute a day learning system from brighter minds you can find it at:

    www.brightermindsmedia.com

I also have used and liked the Comprehensive Curriculum of Basic Skills you can find  this one at www.schoolspecialtypublishing.com

    Good Luck !

    Many different links.

    Good luck!

  5. The 5 year old if here in Los Angeles would already be learning to spell and read, do addition, subtraction and so on....Homeschooling your children on your own requires you being the "Teacher", prepping, knowing exactly what the child should be learning and keeping up with that in case the child should at some point go to public school in the future.

Ill be honest, we have Independant study here, the assignments are issued by the school, the kids have an actual teacher to report to weekly, and can work further ahead if they so  chose.

I think its great for High School, but a 5 year old needs to go to Kindergarten and have a blast.....learn to interact with kids its own age, get away from Mom, learn to be a little independant, then later if you still want to home school, go for it. Just my oppinion. Good Luck
