Question:

Homeschooling for 6th grader?

I am considering homeschooling one of our children when she enters 6th grade in a few years. What advice do you have as far as curriculum, making sure she stays on track with the state expectations, as well as joining or not joining homeschool groups? She does extremely well in school and is in all advanced/gifted classes. She will be going back into the public school system for grades 9-12. Thanks!

  1. If you are concerned about keeping up with national/state standards, I would suggest Time4Learning for at least part of her curriculum.  They use the same online education software as the public schools.  The link is below:

The curriculum available for Time4Learning only goes up to the eighth grade.

  2. We are using k12 as well. Great program that allows you to work at your own pace and get ahead, They will also do placement testing that will get your child where they need to be.

It doesn't matter whether your child is used to being the head of the class, feeling left behind, or somewhere in between—they will set you on the right path, they will give you the best tools and they will support you as you guide your child through some of the best educational experiences ever created.

My son was behind in math so they put him where he needed to be. Yet he was ahead in Lauguage so they put him where he needed to be there as well.
