  1. If your parents aren't willing... then you can't be home schooled.... I would recommend you talk to your guidance counselor at school about the problems... in case you didn't know, schools are legally bound to keep you safe....  they are required to provide a safe environment.

  2. Have you talked to the principal about it? The next step would be the school board. Your parents need to support you on this.

  3. Let your parents how badly you feel, that staying in school could abuse your "frame of reference" which can effect you in the long-term. Also if your parents refuse to, you have to understand homeschool is VERY EXPENSIVE. I've done homeschool and it was boring, but I've learned more through homeschool than public school.  If problem gets worse try to talk to the counselor.

  4. Homeschooling isn't all that great...you have no social life....I personally have been home schooled.....I liked it because i got to organize my time better but  if i could re-do my schooling i definitely would  have gone to school - just transfer schools......You still need to get all the extra curricular stuff in and get extra credits  :-)

  5. I'm mostly writing this answer in response to some of the other commenters. Homeschooling is very good and very fun. If others haven't had that experience then they have been left out on a great experience. You can have alot of friends if you choose to try and get yourself connected. The key is getting yourself connected. You can just sit in your house and expect to have alot of friends. I was homeschooled all my life and I have more friends then most of my friends who were in public school all their lives. And they are true friends, not the fake friends most are in public school. the kind that will forget about you if you aren't cool and aren't liked.

I think the best bet for you might be to find an online homeschool, a co-op, or a satalite program. Do your homehork and find out all you can, then work on your parents. Try to get connected with other homeschoolers. At first you can connect with them online, such as thru forums and chat groups. You can access a couple good ones by going to my website and clicking on the forums link. I will be adding a section to my website soon that will have various homeschool groups around the country, so add my site to favorites and check back every so often.

Also, in present situation, I would say that you need to make sure you go to not only a higher power about your situation, but the highest power, God. I've posted a link to a site that can give you more information about that.

OTHERS: Please don't give uneducated guesses about stuff you very apparently don't know much about. Thank you.

  6. Hi, firstly let me say how I feel for your situation.I have homeschooled my three sons 2 of them all the way through. It is not an easy decision for a parent to decide to be different and homeschool. We worry that we will be able to handle the whole thing. Will we be able give a good enough education, will our "children " be motivated and co operative enough to make it successful? Homeschooling is not for everyone but it is excellent. Do some homework- find out about what is available homeschooling wise including costs, detail why you want to homeschool and how you plan to achieve your goals, how you will deal with the social life bit - find a healthy group (maybe sport or church youth group) to be part of. Present these findings to your parents in a mature manner and it will give them more confidence to consider your request. Remember parents generally want what they believe to be best for their children.

  7. Your parents may be concerned that they cannot provide you with a good education. Ask them if they will allow you to access some online courses (one with clear credentials) and give you a chance to prove that you can handle it by doing work on your own after school and on weekends. If you can demonstrate that you will be able to do your work and continue learning, they may decide to allow you to homeschool until the end of the year as a trial period. Look at other answers on this board to find good online courses.

Also, remind your parents (and your school) that bullying is NOT a normal part of childhood and should NOT be allowed. It is against the law to assault people, even when you both are in school. Tell your parents that you are not complaining about minor annoyances, your are dealing with things that *they* wouldn't deal with if they were running into it in their workplaces. If that doesn't work, depending on how bad it is, (if the other students are breaking the law or not), you can tell the school that you will go to the police if they don't help assist you as they are legally required to do.

  8. How awful for you!  I went through some of that in high school and I am shocked that school officials allow it.  But there is good news, I have not encountered any of that nastiness since I graduated from high school.

I think you need to sit down and list the reasons you want to homeschool.  Also, find some information about homeschooling you can share with your parents.  Tell them the benefits, statistics, etc.  You can find that information here

Also, find out your state laws:

    http://www.hslda.org/laws/default.asp

Then think about how you will homeschool and what you would use. Here are some suggestions:

Share this information with your parents.  Ask them if they would consider it and perhaps give it a try.

If not, there is nothing you can do but continue to work with school officials.

You will survive this.  Just be strong and keep your head up!
