My friends has an auditory disorder, she hears too well for her own good and her homeschool program isnt working (its CAVA) and she needs help finding a different school with physical or recorded lectures on each subject, I looked on google and I just couldnt find anything off the bat so I came here. I promised her I would try to get an answer for her soon, so if you could help me out that would be great. Any high schools that you can recommend would be of so much assistance. Thanks.

  1. Try www.brixtonuniversity.com they provide homeschool degrees.

  2. Well, this isn't a public school like CAVA, but the Thinkwell courses have recorded lectures, and the instructor is viewable on the screen.  The Homeschool Buyer's Co-op currently has a Thinkwell group buy.

Teaching Textbooks also has lectures, but the instructor is more of a narrator on CD-roms.

I would think CAVA would be better b/c she can read the information herself, not listen to a teacher instruct.

  3. I'm unsure where in CA you're located, but I'm in northern CA.  I have put my elementary students, and my friends put their high school students in Charter Schools that are with the school district.  The children get to work from home, but they have credentialed teachers that come in to make sure they're doing their work, and help give idea's.  They also get a fund for supplies, curriculum, extra classes such as music, art, dance, or swim, and the fund can be used for field trip and other school expenses.  They get state tested, and are required to meet state standards for their grades.  The parents however are their teachers, and if the parents have one or two subjects they are unable to teach most charters offer on line courses, or the ability for a teacher to come in and teach that subject.
