Question:

Homeschooling in CA suggestions...?

We moved to Texas 2 1/2 years ago from California and began homeschooling about 1 year ago. The h.s. climate in Texas is very favorable and allows much freedom for parents in many ways.

My family and I are preparing to return to CA this summer. We're excited to return to our HUGE extended family but not looking forward to the political flavor that taints that fine state. I would love input from other CA homeschooling families regarding how they navigate the tricky system there and if there are stipulations on what curriculum you have to use. I have a wonderful collection of material and would love to continue with it...

Your advice is greatly appreciated, your criticism is not. Tolerance is what it's all about right y'all? ;) Thanks in advance...

  1. The only restrictions in CA is that you must keep an attendence log, file notice of the school between Oct 1 and Oct 15 each year and the person in charge must be "capable of teaching."

Also the teaching must be in English.
