I am considering homeschooling in Connecticut. I am also in 10th grade but my mom wants me to be homeschooled. Does anyone know where to start. What i have to do? Who do i call and it would be nice if i could get a brief step by step instructions.

  1. Go online and get the instructions for what you need to do for your particular state. Then find a good home schooling system. I recommend something structured. I use K12. Go to www.k12.com and check it out. It is very structured and has lots of interactive lessons. I did a lot of searching before making the choice for my son and I haven't been sorry. Also check out cosmeo.com for extra homework help, brain games, it even has an encyclopedia with videos and everything. Good luck.

  2. The very first thing you need to do is to find out your state laws.  Here is a link to the Connecticut laws about homeschooling:

    http://www.hslda.org/laws/default.asp?St...

Here is PDF analysis of those laws:

    http://www.hslda.org/laws/analysis/Conne...

From what I can see, the law is very easy in Ct.  There are no qualifications for the Parent Teacher, no testing, and for record keeping, only the requirement for maintaining a portfolio showing work in the required subjects.

  3. I am a homeschooler in CT, and we (me and my brother) have used A Beka Book, they are great with help to start homeschooling.
