  1. Go online, and find some books for the subjects that you would be studying in public school. Have your mom come up with lesson plans and start studying. The only thing that should cost you money is the books you need to study.

The only other thing you would have to do, is keep an  attendance record since your younger than 16 and turn it into the state every 12 or 18 weeks. You will also have to take tests like the EOCT.

I know what public school is like. Just because its free, it doesn't mean it's the best place to learn. I went to public school for most of my life in Georgia being homeschooled for about 2 years.I would rather have a better education, than be able to "socialize" with people.

  2. In GA, you don't really have to pay anything to do homeschool if you don't want to. The parent chooses what is used for teaching. It does not have to be approved by the schools, heck the schools are not even suppose to know what you are using!

Lots of families use the pre planned curiculum that costs anywhere from $500-$1000 a year.

I can't afford this, so things I do is go to the library, join a homeschool group to go on field trips and take classes with them, there are SO MANY internet websites to use for school it is just impossible to look thru them all.

To get started, go to www.worldbook.com and look at their 'scope and sequence' list. This is a list of what children should learn for each grade and each subject. Then you can find what you need to teach each thing from the library, internet, etc.

The down side to not spending any money to do homeschool is that it takes SO MUCH time just finding waht to use to teach! I have found shortcuts, though.

I am in GA and if your mom would like to talk to me about this tell her to email me sisymay@yahoo.com

  3. Well, I'm homeschooled....And I persoanlly dislike it....I've lost all my friends, and lost the social outings....Pretty much everything....

It is alot easier, I'll tell you that, but....I wouldn't suggest it though....But some people love it! Everyone's different....

    Here's a few websites....

    http://www.connectionsacademy.com/

    http://www.k12.com/

Connections Academy was really easy, I regret switching from it....

Also most schools, you don't have to pay for, unless it's private....

And for me usually it takes around 4 hours if I take my time....I can do it in alot less time, but I slack off and stay on myspace, lol....It usually doesn't take that long....

I've been homeschooled since the 5th grade....

If you have any more questions email me at....

    All my best!

  4. I have had experience with the following:

    Morning Star

    Christa McAuliffe

    Georgia K-12

I suggest The Morning Star Academy.  It is a good one to start with and isn't too expensive. You will have access to an on-line teacher.  This one offers the most teacher support.

    http://www.themorningstaracademy.org

    Discounted Mid-Year Tuition:

    $1329.

    Optional Installment Plan:

$349.75 down payment plan, plus 3 installments of $349.75

(total of $1399.00 compared  to full year tuition of $2499.00

The Christa McAuliffe Academy is $325 per month http://www.cmacademy.org  You will be assigned a teacher/mentor, but for the most part you are on your own.

The K-12 Georgia http://www.K12.com program is free but it can be pretty overwhelming for someone who has never done homeschool before.  Your mom will have to put in a lot of time...there isn't a lot of on line help like you get with Morning Star.  Your mom will have to be your teacher.

  5. I am sorry the other people were so closed-minded and prejudiced. Homeschooling is a VERY wonderful thing-- I am greatly considering the same option myself. :-) don't let the others keep you from learning and becoming the best you can be! The library will be your best friend. k12.com is also good. For learning other languages, I suggest Rosetta Stone. GOOD LUCK!! :-)

  6. just go to school you fool, if you are homeschooled you'll lack the social skills needed for collgee

  7. just go to public school, it is free
