  1. Please do your research before you choose. Schools should not be for profit. Brennan from Whitehat management is making money off of the kids in Ohio because we think it is better to send them to an online school but really Brennan wants to take money from the community. Google the net and you will see. DONT GO TO OHDELA.

  2. Guest 14609237 is obviously an employee at OHDELA (Hi Robert. Tell Maryanne I said hi-oh wait, she was FIRED!). The teachers are great but Robert who is an administrator and only has an associates degress and it is not even in education is only interested in getting in as many students as possible which means more money. He gets a bonus if he makes his goal so if you find out that he was fired like Maryanne, you know it was because he didn't get you suckers to enroll your students. They dont even have the programs he mentions in his free advertisement. What a joke.

  3. OHDELA, OHVA, Connections...these are NOT homeschooling.  They are Ohio state charter schools.  Homeschooling is a waiver of attendance.  These schools allow you to "school at home" but this is very different than homeschooling.  Attendance is required and will vary on how it is logged depending on the school chosen.  I have experience with traditional homeschooling and OHDELA and BOSS.  OHDELA and BOSS are ok.  I have a child just starting OHVA.  You will need to ask yourself why you want to school at home and write those answers down.  Then find out if each school fits into those important reasons.  For example:  Do you need a lot of contact/help from teachers?  How much internet reimbursement do you need? What curriculum does each school use and will that fit your student?  Online class vs. traditional book work?  More student led or strict online/teacher led?  Some schools have a choice of curriculum, some don't.  Look up each curriculum online to see if it matches how your child learns.

This is a big decision, and a bit of homework is required on your part if you want to make the best choice for your children (as I am sure you do!)  :)

  4. I would like to introduce another option. OHDELA, The Ohio Distance and Electronic Learning Academy. We have been with them for a number of years and they are great. Their teachers are amazing and they provide everything you need and then some. They give you a loaner computer, printer/scanner/fax machine, and provide reimbursement for internet even. They offer a myChoice account which allow you to supplement your education however you choose whether thru field trips, lessons like dance or art, karate, books, etc. They also are one of the only online schools that have an active PTO, National Honor Society and Clubs such as ski club. You can learn more about them by visiting them online at http://www.ohdela.com where they offer an online information session three days a week or you can call them and get more information at 1.800.493.8680
