  1. an han!

  2. You question is confusing.  No homeschool program awards a diploma unless you have completed credits towards that diploma.

  3. In IL, the mandatory school attendance ages are between 7 and 17.  Until you're 17, legally you have to be getting some sort of an education.

When you say you won't "really be homeschooled", what do you mean?  If you mean that your parents won't be teaching you, that's ok; you can do your classes online, you can be responsible for your own coursework and ask them when you have questions, and/or you can take concurrent enrollment at a local community college or university.  You have to be doing some sort of schooling, though, or you'll be brought up on truancy charges.

IL doesn't require that you take any specific curriculum or set course of studies; they don't require that you test or "sign up" anywhere.  However, if anyone reports you and your parents can't verify that you are being educated, they will end up in legal trouble and you'll be required to either go back to school or prove that you're homeschooling.

  4. Your question is kind of confusing.

If you go with an online program and have met their entrance requirements and fulfill their graduation requirements for getting a diploma and you're only 14, then yes, it's legal. A 14 yo girl made news last year for having gotten into Harvard or something.

If you mean to just order a diploma through an online company or one of those "fake" companies that has minimal requirements to obtain a diploma, no, I wouldn't say that it's legal. At 14, if you have not already obtained a high school education, you are legally required to continue receiving an education.

  5. uh i dont think that is legal... lol

  6. If you are homeschooling in Illinois, you must follow the Illinois School code, which has only two basic requirements for private home schools. They are as follows:

    1. That the branches of education or subjects taught in a private home school be equivalent to those being taught in the public schools.

    2. That the daily instruction of a child in a private home school be in the English Language.

Compulsory attendance (note, not "education") is required from ages 7 to 17 for those children in the public schools. You can attend a private school and graduate early - in Illinois, homeschools are private schools.

So, either way, you must receive instruction in the basic subjects: Language Arts, Social Sciences, Math, Fine Arts, Physical Sciences, Physical Education and Health.

Usually it is the homeschool parent who awards the diploma and maintains the transcript. Some parents choose to use a program, paying that program to do this.
