  1. Check out K12.  It's a great program where you get a computer and all your school work is on CD's.  We didn't end up using it because it was too much like public school material and we wanted something with more religion in it. (kinda ironic, huh?)  You should try looking into homeschooling catalogs, they're a lot of help and you can review several books in one subject.  And also, use your library.  They're a lot of help.  You can find almost your entire curriculum there and you'll be able to look through the books before ordering them.

  2. Try calling your local public school system they will sometimes give you some older text books. Also

  3. We use K12, which we chose for its rich and rigorous curriculum, but FOUND because we were looking for a homeschool curriculum that was NOT religion-based.  Through its history and literature courses, it does introduce World Religions, but does not advocate one over another.

Depending on where you live, you may even be able to homeschooling using K12 for free.  Many states offer the curriculum through a "virtual" public school, where state funding pays for the materials and curriculum.

Good luck on your homeschooling adventure.

  4. Check out the website for the Well-Trained Mind:

    http://www.welltrainedmind.com/

The Well-Trained Mind is a book written by Susan Wise Bauer.  Her book lists many wonderful books and resources that can be used for homeschooling children of any age, right up through High School.  She lists excellent resources for both secular and Christian families.  The website includes many resources too.  You can usually find her book at most public libraries too, so you don't have to go out and buy it.  It is a worthwhile book to have if you really want to homeschool though.

Even if you don't want to follow her rather strict daily regimen, you will find the book full of ideas, etc. that are very worthwhile.
