  1. No...everyone here, regardless of gender, just wears singlets and shorts. For us, anything more formal than that would make us massively overdressed!

  2. This is a perplexing question.  In the summer they don't have to wear a shirt but they have to wear shoes and socks.  We live where snakes are plentiful.  They are not likely to bite the kids in the torsos but they might bite their feet.  In the winter, it is cold enough in our drafty house that the boys want to go around in sweaters and boots.  Seriously, though, if they wanted to learn in their Fruit Of The Looms and the weather permitted this, what difference would it make?

  3. Yes.  I believe being dressed (as opposed to being in pajamas) puts one in learning mode.  However, I'm sure every parent doesn't feel that way.

  4. Yes, I did.  They are grown now.

  5. Um, yes, we all wear our clothes all day, everyday. When we wake up in the morning, we get dressed and start our day. When we get ready for bed, we take our showers/baths and then change into pj's...what does homeschooling have to do with this?

  6. Um - no - he's @ school - ahem home... so no shirts or shoes required... just a good attitude and a brain willing to suck up information :)

  7. I believe you should be dressed as if you are going to a regular school or work, unless you are hanging out in your own room to do your work.

  8. No. He does not have to wear a shirt while he is learning.  If he wants to go shirtless and shoeless, it is ok with me.

  9. Do you mean do I make my son wear a shirt at home? Yes, I expect my son to wear a shirt, unless it's the summer and he's in a bathing suit going outside. I don't walk around the house topless. His dad doesn't walk around the house topless. My son can wear a shirt.

  10. Well, he doesn't "go" to school since he's HS'ed.

My son has been HS'ing for five years.  He typically just wears underpants with Gap boxers over them.  That's his "school uniform".  If anyone comes to the door, of course he puts on shorts and a shirt.  But he's most comfortable, and does the best work, when he can wear boxers.  It's like me - old knit shorts and t-shirt and slippers...that's what I teach in. ;-)

  11. what do clothes have to do with learning?

there's no reason a kid should have to wear any particular thing unless they don't respond well without the discipline of

    a uniform or specific clothing.

it's been a hot summer, and my kid's learned plenty wearing just his undies.

  12. Shouldn't your children be wearing shirts regardless of school  status unless they're taking swimming lessons?

  13. uh, yes!

  14. Why does that matter? Your at home. Personally I think it's ok.

  15. I have girls, but if I had boys I would require them to dress for the day when they got up. School or no school.

  16. That's a strange question but I'll bite.

My kids wear regular clothes when they are schooling. I don't see how whether or not you have a shirt on while you are doing your school work at home would affect how well you do your work.
