  1. You do not need to notify your school district, but go to HSLDA.org to get the exact laws for your state.

  2. If you use an online charter then you do not have to tell anyone. If you use an out of state online charter or your own material then you may need to inform your local school district

  3. To add to what has already been said look on the internet for a local homeschool support group. They can really be a big help in helping you to get started. I've moved several times while homeschooling and the support groups have been a wonderful help in helping us to get to know the area and proving great actives for our students.

  4. Some states require a letter of intent and some do not. The best place to checvk your states laws is www.hslda.org

You will have to purchase the material whether you have to register as homeschoolers or not.

  5. In CA, you do need to notify the school if your child is 1st grade or over. Kindergarden is not mandatory in CA. And then you need to file an R-4 (private school paperwork) to become your own school, join a charter school or join an umbrella school.

Charter schools in CA oftentimes provide directed funding for materials and classes. This means they will pay for these things for homeschoolers. The money varies from $800 year to $1800 a year. This is a great option if money is tight.

We were in a charter school for awhile. They took care of all of our records and paid for art lessons, drama lessons and our curriculum (which we were also able to choose).

Check with http://www.hslda.com for requirements for your state.

  6. It really does depend on what state you live in. Every state is different. Georgia you didn't, but here in Alabama you have to have a covering. I encourage you to go to the yellow pages & ask a covering or google what your state says about it. I just graduated from homeschooling, myself & loved it!

  7. It depends on the laws of your state as to what you have to do. http://www.hslda.org has all the home school laws you need. The materials are up to you.

  8. If you don't know the answer to that question, then you don't qualify to homeschool. Stupidity will only breed more stupidity.

  9. it depends which state you are in, some require no notification and some have high regulation check out www.hslda.org for great info on state laws.
