  1. 5y(2y-10)=25(divide a common value)

    y(2y-10)=5(distribute)

    2y^2-10y=5(make a zero)

    2y^2-10y-5=0(use quadratic formula, which is (-b+/-root(b^2-4ac))/2a)

    x=.85,5.85

  2. y: 5.46

    Your welcome.

  3. Distribute 5y into the parenthesis.

    10y^2- 50y=25

    Make a quadratic equation..

    10y^2- 50y- 25.

    a=10, b= -50, c= -25

    Use the quadratic formula to solve.

    x= -b +- (plus or minus) the square root (b^2- 4ac)/ (all over) 2a

    50 +- Square root of 3500

    -------------------------------------

    20

    5 +- Square root 3500

    -------------------------------

    2

    I'd solve the rest but I don't have a calculator with me!  Sorry

    Remember to check your answers!

    The answers above me look right.  5.46 will work, but the other answer (-.4580 approximately) will not.  It ends up with 6.678= 25.  The other one gives you loosely 25, so it is correct.  It doesn't have to make exactly 25 because it was rounded.

  4. 5y(2y-10)=25

    y=5.46
