Find The Volume of a trough 5 meters long whose ends are equilateral triangles, each of whose sides has a length of 2 meters

  1. Volume always equals area of base * height

    The base is the equilateral triangle, so find the area of that.  If each side is 2 meters and each angle is 60 degrees, then the area is 5*sqrt(3).

    Now just multiply by the height:

    5*sqrt(3)   *   5

    The volume is 25sqrt(3)
