I2x-7I=I2x+6I

Please explain in detail how it is worked 2.. thanks in advance.

  2. Since there area absolute value signs in enclosing both sides of the equal sign, it means that either 2x-7 or 2x+6 could be negative.

    So what if 2x-7 had a negative answer? If you take away the abs value signs you would have a -1 that you would need to deal with:

    -1(2x+7)=2x+6

    -2x-7=2x+6

    1=4x

    1/4=x

    If you assumed that 2x-6 was the negative you would get the following:

    2x-7=-2x-6

    4x=1

    x=1/4

    Assuming 2x-7 and 2x+6 are either both pos or neg won't work because if you try to solve for x you get 0=1.
