Solve the equation-

2(x+3)-1=7x

7 ANSWERS

  1. 2(x+3)-1=7x

    2x+6-1=7x

    2x+5=7x

    2x-7x=-5

    -5x=-5

    x=-5/-5

    x = 1

  2. First distribute...

    2x + 6  - 1 = 7x

    Subtract 2x from both sides...

    6 - 1 = 5x

    5 = 5x

    Divide both sides by 5...

    x = 1

    Take care,

    David

  3. 2 (x+3) - 1 = 7x

    In order to do this problem, you must first distribute:

    2 (x+3) - 1

    2x + 6 - 1 = 7x

    2x + 5 = 7x

    Now after you distribute, you are going to subtract 7 from both sides. Therefore you will be using the ZERO PRODUCT PROPERTY.

    -5x + 5 = 0

    Now factor -5x + 5 which is -5(x-1) = 0

    Now then set x-1=0 (zero product property) and you arrive at a final answer of x=1 and x=0. Once you arrive at your answers, check for extranous solutions. (Plug them in to see if they are equal to each other)

    X=1

  4. Expanding out

    2x + 6 - 1 = 7x

    2x + 5 = 7x

    Bring 2x over

    5 = 7x - 2x

    5x = 5

    x = 1

    hope u understand ;)

  5. 2(x + 3) -1= 7x

    2x + 6 - 1 = 7x (first get rid of the brackets)

    7x - 2x = 6 - 1  (keep letters on one side, numbers on the other side)

    5x = 5 ( 5 x what = 5?)

    x = 1 (final answer)

  6. (2*x)+(2*3)-1=7x (multiply 2 separately by each character in the parenthesis)

    2x+6-1=7x

    2x+5=7x (combine 'like terms')

    5=5x (get x by itself - subtract 2x from each side to cancel from the right side)

    1=x or x=1 (divide by 5 in order to make x singular [just 'x' instead of 5x], and give your answer based on how you are required to state your answer)

  7. 2(x+3)-1=7x

    =>2x+6-1=7x    (by expanding)

    =>2x+5-7x=7x-7x( subtracting 7x from both sides)

    =>-5x+5=0

    =>-5(x-1)=0

    =>x-1=0

    =>x=1
